Citidaron® Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is Citidaron used for?
Citidaron is used for smoking cessation and reducing nicotine cravings in smokers who want to quit smoking(1).
2. Who should not take Citidaron?
Avoid Citidaron if you’re allergic to cytisine or any of its ingredients, have unstable angina, recent myocardial infarction, significant cardiac arrhythmias, recent stroke, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding(1)
3. Are there any specific conditions where I should use Citidaron with caution?
Yes, use Citidaron cautiously if you have ischemic heart disease, heart failure, hypertension, certain tumors, atherosclerosis, gastric or duodenal ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease, overactive thyroid, diabetes, schizophrenia, or kidney and liver failure(1)
4. Can children or teenagers use Citidaron?
Citidaron is not recommended for persons under 18 years of age due to limited experience in this age group(1)
5. Is Citidaron safe for elderly patients?
Citidaron is not recommended for patients over 65 years old due to limited clinical experience(1)
6. Can I use other medicines while taking Citidaron?
Inform your doctor about all medicines you’re using. Avoid Citidaron with anti-tuberculosis drugs and be cautious if you use medicines containing theophylline, tacrine, clozapine, and ropinirole(1)
7. How should I take Citidaron?
Follow the specific dosing schedule provided by your doctor, usually starting with 1 tablet every 2 hours, and gradually decreasing. The full treatment lasts 25 days(1) Information on dosing can be found here
8. What should I do if I experience side effects from Citidaron?
If you experience side effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist. Common side effects include appetite changes, dizziness, dry mouth, headaches, and nausea(1)
9. How should Citidaron be stored?
Store Citidaron below 25°C in its original package to protect it from moisture and light and keep it out of reach of children.(1)
10. What happens if I miss a dose of Citidaron?
