Prescribing recommendations
Patients on Osteoporosis treatments require adequate Calcium and Vitamin D1
- It can be difficult to achieve our vitamin D requirements through our diet2
- Food remains the best source of calcium but supplements should be considered if dietary calcium intake is insufficient1
3-4 portions of any of the following can provide 1000mg of Calcium 1,3
- A glass of fortified milk, or milk based drink (250mg of calcium)1,3
- A yogurt (100mg of calcium)1,3
- A portion of cheese (320mg of calcium)1,3
- A can of sardines (350mg of calcium)1,3
- A bowl of cereal or porridge with milk (155mg of calcium)1,3
